We're Kali and Thomas Davis—husband and wife, proud parents, and the people behind Caney Creek Venue & Event Space.
Our story begins with rustic Texas roots. Kali grew up in Midlothian, Texas, and Thomas in Aledo, Texas, just outside Fort Worth. We both grew up appreciating the character of Texas communities, the value of hard work, and the kind of hospitality that makes everyone feel welcome. Those roots still shape everything we build together.
Our journey as local business owners began in 2018, when we opened Matagorda Outfitters. We fell in love with the people, the community, and everything that makes life on the Texas coast so special. By 2020, we had moved our young family to Matagorda County and made it our permanent home.
Building businesses here has always been about more than opening doors. It's about investing in the place we call home, bringing people together, and creating something that lasts.
FROM THE COAST TO THE CREEK.

We opened Matagorda Outfitters and began our journey as business owners in Matagorda County.
WE MADE IT HOME
We brought our young family to the county and became permanent members of the community.
A NEW CHAPTER
We took on a beautiful Bay City building—and discovered it was meant for something special.

SHE HAD A DIFFERENT PLAN FOR US.
When we took on this beautiful building in 2025, we initially envisioned another retail and bar concept—an extension of the entrepreneurial spirit that brought us here.
But the more time we spent within these walls, the more we realized we had something special. The character of the space, the light, the textures, and the feeling you get when you walk in all told a different story.
So we changed course. Instead of another shop, we decided to create a venue—a place for weddings, birthdays, family milestones, community gatherings, live music, and the kind of nights people remember long after they're over.
We wanted Caney Creek to feel unmistakably Texan: warm, welcoming, full of personality, and special without being stuffy.
